Throne of Atlantis was an alright, sometimes cheesy film. The only thing that made me watch this movie till the end was Mera's feet. I love her design in this film, and how they made her semi-barefoot! Although sometimes her feet would be horribly animated if like, from a far distance, or fighting, or just too lazy to animate it right. Amazing Mera's feet...yeah, that's all I have to say about this film. Very nice feet... that's really it to be honest. And yes I have feet fetish, the more you know. Ummm...yeah, well this is awkward now. Hey, you like that new leaked Aquaman costume. Pretty cool, makes him look badass...OK good day now

For 'Shaun the Sheep' Aardman Animations gracefully goes back to its roots. If you are not familiar with the character of Shaun, then perhaps I should elaborate. He was first seen in the third Wallace & Gromit short 'A Close Shave'. The world he inhabits has no characters that speak an audible line of dialogue. It is all silent, save for the odd sound effect and the musical score. This is Aardman's sixth feature length film or third if you just count stop-motion.

The plot is of course very basic. But that suits the film just fine, it is not trying to be the next 'Inception' and it doesn't need to be. With silent films the simpler the better. Shaun decides that he wants some well deserved time off from his work on the farm. The group or flock want a day off, but they instead end up in rather a mess. Which eventually leads them to the Big City aka London. Meanwhile, through a misunderstanding their farmer is hospitalized with no recollection of whom he is and Shaun. It is up to Shaun and the gang to set the farmer free and return home, before further trouble is had.

Queue great scenes that are funny, referential and light hearted. The first factor being the most unexpected, considering that there is no dialogue at all. Meaning that Shaun relies heavily upon visual humour, which works a treat. It never forays into dark territory and thankfully keeps the tone consistently light hearted with good intentions. It would be impossible to list all the references one could find when viewing it, but let me bring up a few. They are, The Shawshank Redemption, The Silence of the Lambs and The Wolverine. So even the adults will get a chuckle out of it. This film really is for all ages.

The stop motion animation is fabulous and showcases how far Aardman have come along since 1989's A Grand Day Out. It is even well paced and runs little over seventy-five brief minutes. Meaning it never gets tiresome. But the length proves to still be part of the problem. The film is far too short and I wanted I needed so much more. I would not have minded watching this film even if its running time was in fact doubled. I know this is not a big issue, considering the film is silent and still has warmth, heart and a soul. But, some character development would not have gone amiss.

If you are curious as to where 'Shaun' places amongst the other feature length stop motion pictures, then it follows thus; it is greater than 'Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were- Rabbit', but lacks the shear enthusiasm of 'Chicken Run'. But, could the woolly fella ever compete with such grand competition? Probably not, but there is less than a feather between the overall quality of the two.

'Shaun the Sheep' to the cynical will no doubt appear to be a cash grab from Aardman. (As the gang already have a television show to its name). This could not be further from the truth. Shaun is warm, heartfelt, moving, exciting and soulful. No matter what age you are, you will be in for a delight provided by this excellent film from Aardman, further proving that they can do no wrong. I urge anyone to come forward and say they were bored; the mere thought of which is inconceivable!

Everything is amazing in the movie, the set especially. It is very scripted and screen written. Director Dibaker Banarjee has proved that he is in class of pure elite film-makers like Raju Hirani,Anurag Kashyap,Neeraj Pandey etc. It is set in 1942 with a loose connection to World war II. In short, it is all brilliantly put. The antagonist of the movie is more powerful than the protagonist. this gives another spark to the movie. Every scene is interconnected with each other which makes this mystery tale perfect. There is not a single scene about the movie which you can say is unnecessarily put into it. The only thing which could have been better is that the actors could have performed better. Sushant did all he could but that was like his 3rd film so he is not to blame and all the other actors aren't famous. Just because few people who have zero knowledge of movie have given negative reviews about it doesn't mean that movie isn't good. Anyone who loves sherlock is going to love this movie too. Its not a movie to miss guys. And its sad the movies like kick, dhoom3 and chennai express do all the business only because of big names while good movies like DBB don't get the business they deserve. Its a pure delight for mystery lovers.

6 February 2014 |

To be honest – when I first heard of 'The Lego Movie' I thought it to be a ridiculous idea and automatically dismissed it as something bad. However, when I gave it a second thought, I realized I kind of liked the idea. I mean, why not create a big budget movie that takes place inside the Lego universe? At least it's somewhat original (there have been previous Lego movies, but they were all direct-to-video, and from what I realize – they are much different from this one). And in this age of spin-offs, remakes, prequels, etc. originality is more valuable than ever. Add to that the amazing cast in the movie, and I, for one, needed no more reasons to see this movie – and I ultimately enjoyed it.

The movie opens with the movie's villain, Lord Business (voiced by Will Ferrell), stealing a mysterious artifact called the 'Kragle' (I hope I've written it correctly) from a wizard named Vitruvius (voiced by Morgan Freeman), in order to destroy the Universe. During their encounter, Vitruvius tells of a prophecy about a Chosen one, who will find another mystical artifact, called 'The Resistance Piece' and will put an end to Business's mettle. 8 and a half years later, Lord Business's alter ego – President Business – is ruling the whole world in a sort of totalitarian way. We then meet the movie's protagonist, Emmet (voiced by Chris Pratt), who one day accidentally stumbles upon 'The Resistance Piece' and is thought to be the Chosen one by a group of Lego characters called the MasterBuilders.

Despite the fact that The Lego Movie's plot summary may seem a bit complicated (and despite the fact that I hailed the movie's originality a moment ago), the movie is actually pretty predictable and formulaic. That isn't necessarily a bad thing – actually, the movie has an explanation of some sort for why it is so predictable – but the movie does get slightly tedious from time to time. The only other possible downsides to the movie besides that, are the movie's third act, which gets clingy in some parts, and some of the action scenes. I like how the animation is a combination of both stop motion and CGI, but this unusual style of animation may be hard to follow during a few action scenes – and I fear this scenes might be even harder to follow if you decide to watch the movie in 3D. Nonetheless, all this downsides to the movie are easily overshadowed by its qualities.

The movie's biggest quality is definitely that it is fun. The Lego Movie is a nostalgic look back at childhood and it helps to realize that our child games were often very silly, ridiculous, over the top and funny – and in that way The Lego Movie could be better appreciated by adults than by children. Virtually almost every scene contains a silly joke or gag and I was constantly giggling throughout the whole movie. The Lego Movie easily succeeds in being a feel good, ridiculously entertaining movie that is worth your time. Moreover, another The Lego Movie's quality is that it has quite an impressive cast (Pratt, Ferrell, Banks, Day, Brie, Freeman, Hill, Neeson, Offerman, O'Neil, etc.), that portrays a bunch of very colorful and memorable characters. In short, if you are interested in watching a nostalgic throwback to your childhood or just want to watch a fun, feel-good movie, you mustn't skip The Lego Movie.

Batman vs. Robin User Reviews

15 April 2015 |

The DC Animated Universe continues with another Batman title that also features Damian Wayne(aka Robin). The previous Batman centered film was Son of Batman, and that film got some hate. I didn't hate that film, but I do admit it was not on par with some of the recent DC animated films. The same can be said of Batman vs Robin. The film is fun with some great voice acting, and so many amazing action scenes, but the story with the Court of Owls is just not as good as it could have been. The Following is my review of Batman vs Robin.

This story was written by J.M. DeMatteis based on the comic book from Grant Morrison and Scott Snyder. DeMatteis has only previously wrote TV series for the DC animated department. For example Justice League and Batman: The Brave and the Bold. I'm not that knowledgeable on The Court of the Owls, but after watching the special features on the Blu-Ray for this film, it sounds like an interesting idea. Those ideas do not play out that well in this film. I am not claiming the story is bad, it certainly is not, but after recent DC animated efforts like The Flashpoint Paradox, War, and Throne of Atlantis, this film is easily a step down in terms of story. The film is still worth a watch, but not really for the story. I enjoy what the Court of Owls could bring in the future, but on this effort, their story isn't much interesting.

The film was directed by DC Animated regular, Jay Oliva. Oliva is known for directing other DC Animated films such as Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Parts 1 & 2, Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, and Justice League: War. Oliva usually delivers top quality with the animated films he directs. The same can easily be said here. The animation looks fabulous, and the action scenes are wonderful to watch. The voice acting is once again an amazing aspect of the film. The stars of the film are Jason O'Mara(Batman) and Stuart Allan(Robin). Troy Baker, Kevin Conroy, Jeremy Sisto, and even Weird Al Yankovic. The talented voice actors have always seemed to work well together in these films, and the same can be said here. With the story of the film falling short, it is good to know that the action and the quality animation keeps our interest over the course of this eighty minute film. While it certainly is not up there with his recent works overall, this is still a worthy film to watch for comic book animated films.

The film was composed by Frederik Wiedmann. Wiedmann scored previous DC animated films such as Justice League: Throne of Atlantis, Son of Batman, and Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox. Wiedmann's effort once again is nothing short of great. It is original and he often brings something different to each one of his scores that I have heard. It adds a great deal of depth to the film as well. Wiedmann does a fantastic job in this area of the film, and cannot wait to hear his work on upcoming DC projects.

Overall, even though the story is not as good as it could have been, with quality animation, great acting, and a great score, this effort is not to be missed. I'm sure most will find it not up to the level on previous works from DC, but the film is still enjoyable, and makes you excited for their next film.

I will also be going over the Blu-Ray special features as well. This home video release has brought back the Audio Commentary from the creators of the film. The audio commentary is covered by Mike Carlin the creative director, Jay Oliva the director of the film, and James Tucker the supervising producer for the DC animated films and TV shows. These audio commentaries are a good insight into the making of the overall film, and these guys have all done one of these in the past, so they know what to talk about. This commentary is loaded with funny and informative information. A must listen for any fan. The film also features two featurettes. The first is "The Mythic Court of Owls" which just goes over the back story of the Court of Owls and how it is similar to the Illuminati and the Freemasons. This featurette runs at 32 minutes long. The second and final featurette is "The Talons of the Owls". This is just more back story on the many Talons over the course of generations and what they all do. This featurette runs at 14 minutes. There is also an inside look at the next DC animated film, Justice League: Gods & Monsters. Which runs at 11 minutes. There are also 4 TV episodes from various DC animated shows. This runs total at 88 minutes. Even if you don't find the story all that well made, the bonus content on the Blu-Ray is well worth the price, especially if you can track down a copy of the Steelbook, which features amazing artwork.

Good- The voice acting and story.

Bad- Animation and cinematography.

Not sure if it was because of a rush job or the lack of really trying. This is a fall from the quality that we come to expect from DC Animation. The more I watched the more I notice that this wasn't going to end well. The characters moved stiff and very poorly. The fight sequences lack depth and emotions. The interaction and dialog between everyone was painfully lacking. It almost felt that I was watching a cheap Dollar Store ripoff. They tried to keep to the comics ,but left out a lot of good moments. This was just a good story that got murder by poor quality. I just hope the New Batman animated movie isn't this bad.

Rent this or borrow it from a friend that was tricked into buying this. Not worth buying
